Going Places with Bola Atta

The Swiss Alps is one of the places where Bola Atta remembers first going on holiday.

Going Places is a regular feature on this blog.  It is an interview-style feature where different personalities tell us about the highlights of their holidays.  Enjoy it.

1.      Tell us about your very first holiday.

I was too young to have vivid memories of my first holiday. But one of the very first holidays that I remember was in the Swiss Alps. I must have been about 12 years old then and was so fascinated by the movie Heidi – the story of the little girl who was stolen by her aunty and sold to a wealthy family living in the Swiss Alps. I had watched it many times over before the vacation and I remember wanting to milk cows and make cheese. I didn’t get to do either unfortunately.

2.      What has been your most memorable holiday?

I am searching my mind and there have been so many that it is rather difficult to select one in particular.

3.         What do you like most about vacations?

As a child I enjoyed sea side/beach holidays. As an adult, I prefer more serene destinations. My ideal holiday is one where I can switch off and relax and not have a list of to-do’s or people to visit.

4.         What do you hate most about vacations?

The getting there! Whether by road, rail or air, I really never enjoy the travelling and wish I could just zap myself to whatever destination I desire.

5.         Where would you most like to go on holiday? Why?

Right now, Brazil is on my mind! Why? The Mardi Gras carnival, the rich history and culture of Brazil, the fact that there are still Yoruba-speaking people in Bahia, the 2014 FIFA World Cup… too many reasons.
