Davinia has been in love with the city of London since she visited as a child.
1. Tell us about the first holiday you remember taking.
I can’t remember a time I didn’t travel. My parents are very much into travel and so we would go to lots of different places every year. My first holiday was to Sicily when I was a few months old, but the first one I really remember was a long trip to London when I was four. I have been in love with the city ever since.
2. What has been your most memorable holiday?
I don’t think I can pick only one. I loved both my visits to the US and would love to return. I really enjoyed my time in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. My first trip abroad without my parents will always stick in my mind too. I was 16 and I went to Denmark with two of my close friends for two weeks in summer. We really made the most of it – ate lots of gorgeous home-made food (we were staying with my friend’s Danish grandparents), watched The Cardigans in concert, walked around Copenhagen (and got lost a few times), rode bikes around the suburbs and partied with the locals.
3. What do you like most about vacations?
Doing new things, meeting new people. I love taking photos of little quirky things I notice on my travels and I really enjoy being able to speak to people from different cultures and backgrounds.
4. What do you hate most about vacations?
I don’t really hate anything about them – except maybe plane delays. Actually, plane rides. I hate flying so if I could do without that bit I would.
5. How would you spend your perfect day on holiday?
Wake up earlyish and have a good breakfast. Plug into my iPod and walk around the place, getting a feel for it and exploring it. Visit a museum or two, stop for coffee and chat to some people. Ask locals to recommend places for dinner or even parties (you’ll find you often get invited if you’re nice).
6. Where would you most like to go on holiday? Why?
So many places, but I think it’s about time I visited New York. I’m a city girl through and through and so I’m certain I’d fall head over heels in love with New York.
