Lily’s Apartments is a new hotel (I was told by staff that operations began in January 2012). The hotel is located on a quiet street in Gwarinpa, Abuja and is about 30 minutes drive from town so it might not be the place for you if you like to be in the thick of things.

The hotel is a mix. My room was nice-looking but the bulb in the bathroom wasn’t working (maintenance fixed it when I mentioned it). The hotel has a swimming pool but the restaurant’s menu is severely limited. The room had a gorgeous flat-screen TV and Bose speakers but only 2 channels were available. The staff is friendly but unprofessional (I often heard them bickering loudly and I called the restaurant and reception a few times but no-one picked up the phone).

The hotel was good value for money though. A standard room costs about N20,000 a night. I’m not sure you’ll find a hotel of that grade at that price in Lagos. Overall, Lily’s Apartments is a comfortable place to stay in Abuja.
